🌍 🐉 The Legend of Saint George: Kids’ Corner
Would you like the little ones at home to experience the legend of St. George while practising English? We have designed a special activity sheet to celebrate April 23rd in a creative and educational way.
This material from the Kids’ Corner is a visual and playful resource, perfect for working on thematic vocabulary and basic reading comprehension.
What will you find?
We have prepared three challenges for our little “knights” and “princesses”:
1. Words and Pictures: A visual vocabulary section with cut-out images. Children will learn and match key words such as Dragon, Knight, Princess, Rose, Book, Castle, Sword and Shield.
2. The Knight’s Maze: A focus-based maze where they will have to help the knight find the correct path to the castle, following the vocabulary clues they will find along the way.
3. Colour by Number: A comprehension and psychomotor skills exercise. They will need to bring the scene from the legend to life by following a colour code: 1=RED, 2=GREEN and 3=YELLOW, and other instructions. TIP: For the numbers, use different shades; for example, the grass and the dragon can be different shades of green to make it more fun!
💡 Did you know…?
As our Cultural Fact says at the end of the worksheet: “St. George’s Day” is also celebrated in England on April 23rd. It’s a fantastic opportunity to explain to children that traditions can bring different cultures together!
